That’s hard to plan for yet you have to be adequately staffed for all of it. And, as the manager, a full 24 hours of customer interaction varies widely from peak traffic to just a trickle. Yet swapping and rotating 24-hour shifts can be difficult mentally and physically for those trying to adjust. Night shifts can be demoralizing to your team, and to avoid this, equity is the rule of the game. That means you’re dealing with a 24-hour shift schedule, and while your customers probably appreciate the convenience of being able to come to your place of business any time of day or night, that 24-hour availability can take a lot of work to plan for. If your doors never close and the lights never go off, you’re always on and always open.
